Solaris have announced that after a long time period without updates, they will launch their own Solaris Platform with the help of their first major update. The Solaris team have shared that they will be migrating from the PivX codebase to a more advanced Stratis codebase that will be even richer in features. This new update brings with a new core wallet, block explorer and website.

What Would This Update Mean for the Network?
Also known as “Solaris 3.0”, this new update promises to completely change the network and spearhead it towards a better future. Up to this moment, Solaris was based on a PivX codebase that was derived from Bitcoin and written in C++, making it easier for development of solutions and features. On the other hand, C++ is starting to age according to the Solaris team, and they would like to merge to their own codebase, written in C#, giving them the opportunity to make the network even more feature rich and even easier to develop in.
Now, the project will take the name “Solaris Platform” and after the update all 3 main exchanges that support Solaris will switch to the new codebase. These main exchanges are Txbit, CoinExchange and Crypto-Bridge, which will automatically swap your Solaris coins to the new codebase currency for you. The new update will also bring a revamped Core Wallet, new website and a new block explorer.
The New Solaris Core Wallet
Although still in development, the development team have announced that the Solaris Full Node and the new Graphical Interface for the QT wallet are roughly 90% finished along with having their basic functionality working. Cold staking also seems to be operational but will only work on the command line interface iteration of the wallet as the GUI version needs to be completed for it to work properly.
The new core wallet interface is using Txbit design language with the idea to unify product offerings as the new Solaris Platform. This will also make staking much simpler and improve the Solaris Reward Program.
Fresh Solaris Block Explorer and Website
Due to the new planned codebase, the development team of Solaris quickly realized that there is no existing blockchain explorer that can offer what they are looking for. They are either missing the essential Cold Staking transactions or lack user friendliness etc. Hence, Solaris decided to make their own blockchain explorer from scratch in order for it to be customized exactly for the needs of the new platform. A basic test version of the explorer has been tested and the developers have said that they are happy with the performance and are very enthusiastic regarding the end result. The new block explorer will be open-source and along with the new Solaris Platform will be ever evolving projects.
Just like the network, explorer and core wallet, the Solaris website will undergo a major rework as well. The main visual theme will remain similar but there will be additional sections and existing ones reworked. The way that the website will be optimized will be in order to compliment the new “unified product” direction of the project and become a part of the Solaris Platform.
Conclusion
To sum up, the Solaris network is taking large leaps forward and the community is loving it. The development team are quite dedicated and are not afraid to challenge themselves in order to improve on the project.
