PivX have released a new pull request for their QT Wallet. The new release features a completely redesigned wallet interface as well as new functionality with it. One of the most notable parts of the update is the new Masternodes screen, which will improve the way node holders interact with the network.
Release Notes. What Changed?
This new update took nearly 5 months to develop and implement. While most of the changes can be considered as “quality of life” improvements, the completely new interface will change the way users interact with their wallets and nodes. Below we will go over the updates and what they contain.
Redesigned Send Screen
The refreshed Send tab in the QT wallet will now feature both PIV and zPIV on the same screen as well as showing multiple outputs, remaining balance and total balance. The update also brings new custom transaction options, Parse PIVX URI & Payment Requests, autocomplete send to address with contacts and autocomplete URI in the editable “send to” box.
Redesigned Receive Screen
We are sure that the QT Wallet users will love the new Receive tab. Here is a list of what changed with it:
- Easy creation of payment requests
- A new PIVX URI & Payment request wizard
- QR code for “my address” will now be always visible
- Address label can now be set and modified
- New addresses can now be created on demand
- The “My addresses” list is now redesigned and much more user-friendly
- Copying and Editing addresses can now be done in a single click
Contacts and Privacy Screens Refreshed
The Contacts tab has also received some love with the new patch and now it will have a visual que when you copy, edit and delete contacts. Also, every editable box of information where address inputs can be made has an auto-completable dialog. In order to not forget who made a transfer to you, you can now save an address and label it.
When it comes to the Privacy part of the interface, after the new update you can mint and convert PIV to zPIV on the same screen as well as view a history of your past mints and conversions in a list. Additionally, zPIV denominations are now visible and coin inputs are selectable.
The Masternodes Screen: Better than Ever
The list where the masternodes are shown has been redesigned and given a new view. Something that everyone has been looking forward to for so long is a new Masternodes Creation wizard, also known as a Controller creation wizard dialog. You now have better control over your nodes as you can start, edit and even delete a masternode(alias) with just a single click in the interface. There is now a Masternode FAQ that is implemented in the wallet and masternode setup can now be exported for remote setup easily.
New Settings & Notifications Screen
The rest of the changes can be considered as smaller improvements, but their significance is just as high as the others. Here is the list with the remaining new additions:
- In general, all functions have been re-organized and improved in the UI for ease of use
- Updated implemented in-wallet FAQ
- The BIP38 encrypt and decrypt flow has been completely revamped
- The MultiSend flow has been redesigned and it is much more understandable now
- All wallet options layouts have been improved
- New message notifications during Signing and Verification
- New pop-up notifications and new default dialogs
What can be Expected in the Future?
With such a large and potent update, PivX are continuing to push the envelope in the crypto industry and staying on top of their game. What is left to wonder is what can be expected for future updates. According to the developers, the next update that is being developed will contain further improvements for the “Settings” options that require the wallet to be restarted for the new settings to be applied. The update will also bring removal of the old UI code that is not used anymore, disabling the testnet flag, updating the build documents and not stopping with their progress of the PR.
