When it comes to blockchain technology development, it still continues to surprise us all. Today’s innovative object is the new “Dash Text” feature of providing crypto payments via SMS service for users in Venezuela. Considered as crypto-welcoming country, the last-mentioned is stimulating the crypto usage by actually creating a friendly environment to implement it. I would like to summarize an interview from last week with Bradley Zastrow, Dash’s head of business development.
Venezuela and Dash’s partnership
Using a single smartphone to occur transactions through SMS messages, based in Venezuela is the latest Dash announcement on the Internet. Considered somehow as test-country, Zastrow aims that Dash’s team might learn from their experience there and optimize the product from communication point of view. The thing is that speaking of Venezuela it’s the fiat currency, which is more volatile, compared to the crypto one. That’s why they welcome the crypto usage in a such warm manner. In fact, Venezuela is the second country, after the United States, which provides such a high interest when speaking of website visits.
Dash in Venezuela – why, when, how?
Dash’s “Help Me” team created multiple help desk to support people using crypto. More than 2200 merchants are currently accepting Dash as a payment method. Representatives doing so are Calvin Clein and Subway franchises. “Dash Text”’s partnership with Kripto Mobile in creating a new smartphone to easily store and transfer dashes, which was launched as a low-cost product to be available for all the people willing to use it. Users don’t need an Internet access to use the device, because it’s based on the cellular network.
Dash’s future
As we know that Venezuela is developing a state-backed cryptocurrency, we consider that this might reflect on the Dash usage. Anyway, they can both exist together exactly like banks. There are multiple institutions providing the same financial services and they all work without bothering each other. Many of the crypto users probably won’t be likely to use the new currency, since finally crypto comes to decentralization. And having such a coin, depending on the federal government is more or less a centralized issue.
How to use this feature?
Recently celebrating the Satoshi’s paper 10th anniversary, we observe proper usage and ideas during the last few years. This payment mode is still in a beta version, which is usable by Movistar and Digitel. These two are the biggest telecom enterprises in Venezuela at the moment. How to use the service? Simply send a text with “DASH” content to the number 22625 and then send one more saying “CLEAR”. This way you’re going to create yourself a wallet, associated with your phone number. From that moment on, you can use your mobile to pay at any merchant, accepting a Dash payment.
